If you’re new to this newsletter, welcome!
Every month, as part of the Solutions to Disinformation series, I write about a different aspect of the solution set we need.
The first post focused on media literacy.
The second considered the role of fact-checking.
The third was about how we can use empathy to bring people back from extreme conspiracy thinking.
The fourth centred on the role of the media in all this.
This month, however, I have something a little different.
I’ve been working with my old colleague Della Kilroy on a podcast series for RTE called The Truth Matters: A Guide to Misinformation.
It’s just four episodes but it allows us to go in depth on the topic, and hopefully help people who are struggling to understand it.
Only the first two episodes are available so far.
In the first, we do a kind of “Misinformation 101” and look at how media literacy can help. I wrote a bit more about this episode for RTE here.
In the second, we look at conspiracy theories and how you can help people who are falling down the rabbit hole. And I wrote a bit more about this episode for RTE here.
You can check out the series yourself on Spotify, Apple, RTE, or wherever you get your podcasts. You can also check out this short video we did to introduce the series. Episodes 3 and 4 are coming over the next two Mondays.
Please feel free to send me any feedback!
If you’re missing the regular Solutions to Disinformation series this month, you might be interested in checking out the Weekly Wrap I write for Kinzen. Here’s the latest one, and if you want more of that you can sign up for it at the bottom of that page.
Until next month!
